We at fastpitch bat guide have found that Louisiville Slugger is once again going to be a contender for bat of the year. The Louisville Slugger has been around since the mid 1800's. Do not however think that they have stood still or let their fastpitch bats lose their competitive edge. As you all know the rules have changed for 2012. The USSSA has set out new guidelines that may affect the performance of some composite bats.
That won’t happen with the brand new
The Best 2012 Louisville Slugger Bat is?
Our team has decided that the TPX EXOGRID2 is going to be the best LS line for the 2012. Here is why.
- For starters, the barrel of the bat isn’t composite. It is crafted from a high-density aluminum alloy known as SC21 Scandium Alloy, Louisville Slugger's proprietary blend that produces a tougher, harder hitting surface with just the right amount of play in it. The bat will store and release energy on contact with incredible force, and you’ll be hitting the ball harder right out of the wrapper.
- Second there’s no break-in period required for the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2, which means you can order it today and start clearing the bases or the fences tomorrow.
- Third the EXOGRID2 line are not an all-alloy stick however. The engineers at Louisville Slugger know that composite has its place – and with this bat, that place is in the handle. The SC21 Scandium is trimmed with X-laced composite inserts that support the bat right where it needs it the most. Strengthening the handle creates greater durability even as it enhances the whip of this advanced hitting club. The internal carbon composite sleeve beefs up the entire length of the bat, so now there are no weak points – it’s all sweet spot!
This is a high-performance bat for those who want to put up best-of-career stats this season and beyond.

Since 1850 Louisville Slugger is here to stay!
Thanks for the great information. I did have a question concerning USSSA new bat specs.
On your “Here is a partial sample of other Louisville Slugger bats that have been approved for use in 2011 and beyond.”
From what I have researched, after 2012 and starting 2013 any bat without the new USSSA logo cannot be used. Does this stand correct with the bat list you provided ? Or will those bats also be unavailable for play in 2013 ?
Thanks
Paul: Thank for the note. To the best of my knowledge the partial list should be good through the 2012 season and beyond. I do however strongly recommend that everyone make sure to check out their bat of choice closely before buying. I did find this great Amazon Slow PItch Rules Page.
